We are very excited to start our first Session of After-care enrichment classes on Monday, October 15th!
We’re offering classes such as: Chorus, Karate, Early Public Speaking, Debate, Book Club, Yoga Kids and Basketball. Classes are only opened to those who are enrolled in After-care. For students enrolled in Story-Hour, as long as the class is during 2:05-3:05 time frame, your child may participate.
Registration has begun with October 12th being the last day to register. There are no exceptions and no refunds so please choose carefully when selecting the class for your child. The only way we will grant a refund is if there are less than eight (8) students enrolled for a particular class, therefore, having to cancel that class. Class brochures have been posted in the main office and have already gone home with the students.
Please note you must register through your parent portal, under a link called FOCUS in your Apps and Services. You will be able to view the classes available and make your purchase online.

On March 9, 2018, Governor Rick Scott signed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act into law. This Safety Act requires school districts to formulate and prescribe policies and procedures, in consultation with the appropriate public safety agencies, for emergency drills, for actual emergencies; including but not limited to, fires, natural disasters, active shooter, hostage situations, and bomb threats for all students and faculty at all the public schools within the jurisdiction of the District comprised of grades K-12. The act also dictates that drills for active shooter and hostage situations shall be conducted at least as often as other emergency drills.
Although the likelihood of experiencing an armed intruder on campus is extremely low, the active shooter drills in schools is a way to improve prevention and preparedness related to the possibility of an armed intruder on campus; moreover, it is now required in the State of Florida. For this reason, your child’s school will be conducting a variety of drills to address the above mentioned scenario.
We encourage parents/guardians to take the opportunity to speak to your child about the drill, which we recognize may ease any concern your child may have.

iPrep Academy Administration
Each year, the iPrep PTSA helps raise funds for various End-of-Year Activities for our 5th Graders as they make the transition from elementary to middle school. This year’s planned events are a graduation ceremony and luncheon as well as a week of field trips. To make it all happen, we need to fundraise – A LOT! Last year, the first-ever Fifth Grade Art Auction was a huge hit and a fundraising success. We need your help to build on that success and make this year’s event even better.
We need donations of door prizes, raffles and auction items. Last year’s donations included several hotel stays, restaurant meals, electronics and even a signed Miami Heat basketball. Please consider reaching out to friends and family who have local businesses that may be willing to offer similar donations. We have a letter that we can provide for tax purposes.
We also need volunteers to help host several of the fundraisers, including Elf on the Shelf photos, Spring Pictures, Smoothie King Fridays and more. The first fundraiser involves (wo)manning a popcorn station at iPrep’s Annual Harvest Festival on October 20th. Please donate your time by signing up here. Thank you.
Dear iPrep PTSA Parents & Families:
Thank you for joining the PTSA and helping enrich our students’ learning experiences at iPrep. In addition to helping our students, you have a platform to express ways to help the educators. This is why we are approaching you about the long-awaited Amendment to be presented on the ballot during the general election this Nov 6th. Voters are being asked to support increasing salaries for teachers and other instructional staff, like teachers’ aides and school psychologists, and hiring additional school resource officers.
Miami-Dade County Public School teachers have not received a salary increase in over six (6) years. Teachers finally have a chance for adequate pay but need your support. Please vote Yes for #362 on November 6th!

A couple of our awesome iPrep parents are volunteering at the Lotus House Shelter and are spearheading a Halloween Costume Drive to provide new or gentled used costumes to the Lotus House kids. Dear iPrep Family:
In honor of my father, the Associated Press and I decided to partner with Miami-Dade College to help student journalists at The Reporter, the school’s newspaper. It also provides funding to MDC Summer High School Journalism Institute.
My father, Alan Diaz, a longtime Miami-Dade resident, was the recipient of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography for his image of armed U.S. agents seizing Elian Gonzalez, a Cuban boy, from his relatives’ Miami home. He covered the Florida 2000 election recount, the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York, countless hurricanes, professional sporting events and breaking news. He also worked for the Associated Press as a staff photographer in Miami for 17 years.
I’d love to keep his passion for photography alive in helping our future generation of journalists. MDC serves many underprivileged students and ANY dollar amount, even $1.00 in honor of his name helps. All funds donated (through this link) will go directly to the college.
