Volunteer for a Committee!

How do we create memorable experiences?

Create a “community” from a Magnet School that pulls from all over Dade County? And ensure you are meeting the annual 10 volunteer hour commitment per family?

Help make memories, help volunteer:

Box Tops- year-round counting of box tops!

Fall Event TBD- help promote event, possibly take tickets at the door

Harvest Fest- create, plan and decorate a fall festival in the playground area!

Parents’ Night Out- help solicit venue, items to be auctioned, and ticket sales at the door

Spring Event TBD

Fall Book Fair- Set-up and break down the book fair, as well as helpers and cashiers

Spring Book Fair-Set-up and break down the book fair, as well as helpers and cashiers

BOGO Book Fair- Set-up and break down the book fair, as well as helpers and cashiers

Teacher Appreciation Week- Breakfast, luncheon, special events, create a theme, decorate, clean-up!!

IMPORTANT and TIMELY – Please Read for Updates

* VERY IMPORTANT: There is NO PARKING ACROSS THE STREET for parents/visitors.

We are expanding our playground and there will be heavy construction on our lot. You can park at the fortress across the street, park across WLRN, or at any meter.  We are working with the city so that they do not issue any citations the 1st two days of school.

* August 17th: New Student Orientation 6th/7th, 9th – 12th ~ iPrep Cafe 1st and 2nd Floor

* August 20th: Pre-K Parent/Student Meet & Greet @ 11:30 a.m. ~ Pre-K Classes

* August 22nd: First Day of School! All PK – Grade 4 parents can walk their children in a stay till 9:00 a.m.  Breakfast starts at 7:40 a.m. for all children.  If you are deciding to stay with your child while he/she has breakfast, please make sure to allow our children to sit down first.  Space is limited and we want to make sure our kids have a spot to sit and eat. We will have teachers/staff directing students to their class.

* August 23rd:  Second day of school! ONLY PK parents can walk their children in.  All other parents will have to utilize the drop-off which will be functional even though construction is taking place.  Teachers, Staff, former Safety Patrols and 5th grade students will help escort the PK, Kindergarten and 1st grade students as needed!!!

* August 24th: All students are walking in on their own.  Teachers, Staff, former Safety Patrols and 5th grade students will continue to assist all students.

*Zika: We know this is a hot topic and we need to make take preventive measures to ensure the safety of our kids and teachers.  The hard court will not be used as a holding space for morning arrival until this has cleared.  Morning arrival will take place indoors.  P.E. and recess should remain indoors until we receive further instructions.  Please stay tuned to M-DCPS advisory with regards to Zika safety measures, such as wearing pants and long-sleeved shirts.

* Drop-off
PK – 4: Drive-thru Drop-off ONLY in our lot.  For your safety and the safety of your child, please DO NOT get out of your vehicle.  We will have assistance outside to help guide them safely inside school along with their belongings.

Grades 5 – 7, 9-12: Drive-thru Drop-off behind the SBAB Parking Garage.  Staff will help to escort students. Please refer to map above.

Kinder and 1st Grade: Cafeteria
2nd Grade: iPlay
3rd Grade: iPlay
4th Grade: 4th Grade Hallway
5th Grade: Upstairs @ iPrep Cafe

* Dismissal:
Make sure to let teachers know how your child will be going home (Parent Pick-up, After-care, Morningside Park Bus).

After-School Information and Orientation- Please Read

August 16-19th,  9 am- 1 PM
The FIRST After-School Case (ASC) / Story-Hour Payments are being accepted in room 144.
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY. Detailed information can be found here. (See Page 17 for payment details- Monthly Payment Schedule for information regarding 4 Day Story-Hour, 5 Day Story Hour, Free/Reduced Lunch Rate or Regular Rate)
We accept Cash, Check or Money Order.  No Credit cards or PayPal, this is a MDCPS policy.
Each child also needs insurance; insurance must be paid in person, check or cashier’s check.  You can also pay via the web at www.k12studentinsurance.com. If insurance is paid for online, please bring in proof of insurance before enrolling your child in the ASC program.
PK-6th insurance is $16, 7th grade is $18. Insurance is required every year.

 

 August 17th Orientation for Middle and Upper Grades

 Orientation for 6th and 7th grades will take place in the 1st floor café from 9:00 – 11:00am.
9th and 10th grade orientation will take place in 2nd floor café from 9:00 – 12:00pm.

PreK meet & greet!
Inviting all PreK students and their parents to meet their amazing and wonderful PreK teachers prior to the first day of school. This is a great way to make your child excited about their first day of school.

Each year, the PTSA sells t-shirts as a fundraiser for our school. This year, the shirts will celebrate our Principal’s core values (Kindness, Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Honesty, Excellence). iPrep Hand Designs separate

Each grade (PK-5) will have a different, custom design per grade.The shirts can be worn to school on Fridays, but with such beautiful designs, your child may want a few.
